The Bubble 04:03
Pleased to meet you I’m glad you’re doing well I’m feeling precious like an angel trapped in hell up the road they need a jcb to fill in the holes while I sit here in my bubble writing songs about it all and waiting for the call excuse me sir but I think you will find for your convenience and life you should be stand behind the line I wash my hands of you scrub my skin until the blood come shines through until the bubble bursts I’ll carry on despite it all and half a world away or seven streets from here they fear reality with meaning as it silently appears the only thing I know is the sickness of the game coz each of us is different 27 and that makes us all the same and no one takes the blame excuse me sir but I think you will find for your convenience and life you should be stand behind the line I wash my hands of you scrub my skin until the blood come shines through until the bubble bursts I’ll carry on despite it all excuse me miss but you’re standing in the sun you’re back inside the daydream now and god damn luckier than some I push the guilt back to my smile and out there I will run until the bubble bursts on me I will remember everyone the world is standing still and time it flies on by and although I am 6 feet from you we’re standing side by side

I was not the one to start the fight I cannot explain who was wrong and who was right you were the one to come around here every night so why can’t you just come around tonight. I know I was distant from the start but that’s how we were meant to be and now it breaks my heart to think that what I thought was wrong could seem so right why cant you just come around tonight and I wont make excuses for my pride any more I see the words spray-painted fifty feet upon the wall it’s just a simple fact that I cant see you anymore until the day you walk back through my door why cant you just come around anymore so we are not the ones to win the fight trapped inside our broken hearts for fourteen lonely nights now I am begging to the sun the see the light why cant you just come around tonight

Turn this boat around waves pouring over and dragging me down I feel like I’m sinking and I think I might drown turn this boat around I hear the silent screams voices that tell me what I shouldn’t be they’re louder than the one I know to be me turn this boat around navigating by the moon and stars is sometimes not the way to find out where you are there’s not a compass to point to north when you’re following your heart I cannot do this on my own I need to find someone I can’t be alone I need a harbour to shelter from the storm turn this boat around turn this boat around navigating by the moon and stars is sometimes not the way to find out where you are there’s not a compass to point to your true north you’re simply following your heart turn this boat around turn this boat around

I need this 03:32
Blue green sea you and me wind within our bones feel the sky hit our eyes turning green to gold it’s all subjective introspective of who we are it’s all connected, irrespective of where we are I need this light in my heart I need this space in my mind I need this lightening to make a spark I need to make this mine dark blue weight hibernate pressing down on me liquid breath l fail the test smiling sets me free come on around third shelf down a golden whisky shines we will sing turn this thing around and start again I need this light in my heart I need this space in my mind I need this lightening to make a spark I need to make this mine blue green sea you and me wind within our bones feel the sky hit our eyes turning green to gold

Rainy day street runs like a river people running head down through the storm I hide inside looking through the window. I’m on my second coffee and I am warm I’m taking time to watch this life go by I may not get another chance to love a fragile world where everything I care for I can reach out and I can touch and that’s enough. they cut the pay but cannot do the job value is an unrequited love I swallow pride and carry on regardless hoping staying safe will be enough I’m taking time to watch this life go by I may not get another chance to love a fragile world where everything I care for I can reach out and I can touch and that’s enough.

about

March 2020 and the UK, along with the rest of the world is in the grip of the 2020 Covid-19 global pandemic. I had just been furloughed from my day job and was coming to terms with the fact that I was essentially going to be quarantined with time on my hands.

The opportunity to spend days, weeks or even months in writing and recording my music just never happens, so I decided I was going to make the most of it. I also realised it would be a good opportunity to rope in some additional musicians to help in the recording process and so, together with Andy Dye (The Fargo Railroad Co.) on bass and drummer Roger Luxton (The underbelly) who was recording his parts over 200 miles away in GoatBoy Studio Cornwall we formed “The Quarantines” and the process began.

We also enlisted some amazing guest members into The Quarantines. Sally Doherty provided the duet vocals for “Turn this boat around,” John Slater shredded some guitar on “DAKAY” and the bonus track “Save the World” was produced remotely in Nashville by Mark Allen.

Over a period of a few months 10 new songs were written and recorded. It was an intense but fantastic time of creativity and recording and we are really happy to be able to share this album with you. It is nice to know that something positive has come of this awful situation. Keep safe, keep listening and wash your hands.
